Save this post for later. Holidays can be difficult when gatherings involve dysfunctional dynamics or loved ones who struggle with addiction. Thinking of these gatherings can bring up unfavorable memories wrought with chaos. We dread the thought of celebrating with our loved ones. And then again, the holidays can bring up tender memories, making us… Continue reading How to Navigate the Holidays with Addicted or Dysfunctional Loved Ones

Where is God When Life is Difficult?
You have thirty days to vacate. In the past year and a half, my husband and I had moved one thousand miles away from the only place and people we had ever known. He'd started and left a job under difficult circumstances. And we had navigated the beginnings of marriage, pregnancy, and life with a newborn. Now we were being evicted from our home.
How to Respond When Our Plans Get Interrupted
I only wanted to get a few things done in the garden before the kids started in on each other. I thought I would be witty and put them to work with me, but their attention span at two and three proved them ill-equipped for the monotonous task of weeding. I gathered materials for them to do a small activity and returned to plucking green patches of grass. The final squabble between my two toddlers sent me over the edge. After angrily gathering everything up and barking a lot of things at them I would regret later I sent them off to an early nap. Then the guilt settled in.....
Loving God with Your Mind
Matthew 22:37 Jesus replied, 'You must love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind.' My fingers tapped across the screen rapidly as I responded to her message. I had been feeling this familiar unease creeping back in, and it led me to reach out to a friend.… Continue reading Loving God with Your Mind

Faithful with a Little
Anyone find it peculiar that the first sin was something that Eve ate? Many of you probably know that in the last several months I've gotten serious about my physical health and well being. I'm also a believer and I'm realizing more and more each day how intertwined it all really is. I think as… Continue reading Faithful with a Little
Still, Small Voice
I am so loud. I yell more often than I would like to admit. I yell to get my toddlers to get their act together. I yell to get my point across in a disagreement with my husband. I'm a yeller. Better yet I am a recovering yeller. Maybe you can relate? Maybe you have… Continue reading Still, Small Voice
Do it Scared
Don't be scared. We hear that all the time don't we? I'm certainly guilty of buzzing that one liner off to my toddlers OFTEN. The truth of the matter is that we are always going to be dealing with a certain level of fear. Telling people to not feel that way can just lead them… Continue reading Do it Scared
A Thought on Social Media
If you have an iPhone you know that you can get a glimpse daily of just how much time we spend on social media, and honestly it may come as a shock just how much time we do spend there. I used to be a 'die hard, try to limit social media-er'. I would set… Continue reading A Thought on Social Media
